Overview

WOTD ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS app and website.

Information We Collect

Analytics Data

We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics to help us improve the app. This includes:

  • App usage patterns (which features are used)
  • Device type and operating system version
  • Crash reports and error logs

This data is collected anonymously and cannot be used to identify you personally.

Gift Postcard Information

If you use the optional Gift Postcard feature to send a physical postcard, we collect only what's needed to print and mail your order:

  • Your email address, so we can send a receipt and delivery updates
  • The recipient's name and US mailing address
  • The personal message you choose to print on the postcard

Payment is handled by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number — only Stripe does. We only collect this information when you choose to send a postcard. If you simply use the free app, none of it is collected.

Data We Don't Collect

Outside of the Gift Postcard feature, we do not collect:

  • Personal identification information (name, email, etc.)
  • Location data
  • Contact information
  • Card or payment details (these go directly to Stripe, never to us)

How We Use Your Information

The anonymous analytics data we collect is used to:

  • Improve app performance and stability
  • Understand which features are most valuable to users
  • Fix bugs and technical issues
  • Plan future app improvements

Information you provide for a Gift Postcard is used only to fulfil your order — to print and mail the postcard, send you receipts and delivery updates, and handle any refunds or support requests. We never use it for advertising or marketing, and we never sell it.

Data Storage and Security

We use industry-standard measures to keep your data safe, and your card details are handled entirely by Stripe — they never reach our servers. We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to third parties.

Personal details from a Gift Postcard order are automatically deleted from our servers 30 days after the postcard is delivered — only a non-personal record (order ID, word, amount, status) is kept for bookkeeping. Anonymous analytics has no fixed retention limit, and our payment, mailing, and email providers keep their own records on their own terms.

We're based in Singapore and our providers operate mainly in the United States, so your data is stored and processed there.

Third-Party Services

Our app and the Gift Postcard feature use the following third-party services:

  • PostHog - Analytics (see their privacy policy)
  • Stripe - Payment processing for Gift Postcards (see their privacy policy)
  • Lob - Postcard printing and mailing (see their privacy policy)
  • Resend - Sending receipt and delivery emails (see their privacy policy)
  • Cloudflare - Backend hosting and storage; processes our API requests and Gift Postcard order data (see their privacy policy)
  • Anthropic - AI generation of the daily word; no personal data is sent (see their privacy policy)

Each service receives only the information it needs to do its job, and none of them use your data for their own marketing.

Your Rights

You can email hello@wotdapp.com any time to access, correct, or delete the personal data we still hold (usually an in-flight order or past support emails); we'll respond within 30 days. If you're in the EEA, UK, or California, you may have additional rights under the GDPR or CCPA. If you're not happy with our response, you can also contact Singapore's Personal Data Protection Commission at pdpc.gov.sg.

Children's Privacy

Our app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages as it only displays educational word content. To purchase a Gift Postcard, you must be at least 18.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
